US Associate - Operational Risk Management (ORM) & Permanent Control (PC)

Credit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank’s (CACIB) Operational Risk Management (ORM) & Permanent Control (PC) department is seeking a recent college graduate who has demonstrated interest and/or experience in the financial services industry. This US Associate position will provide support to all senior members of the ORM/PC team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong initiative and people skills, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, be able to work under pressure and have a good understanding of the financial services industry, corporate finance, and operational risk, and have a solid proficiency in Excel/PowerPoint (advanced skills a plus – see below).

The U.S. Associate position will be available for a maximum of 2 years. The goal of the U.S. Associate program is to develop the ideal candidate into a full-time position at the end of the two years.
 
Main Responsibilities:
 
The main mission of the ORM/PC Associate is to assist the Head of Operational Risk and Operational Risk Managers in ensuring and executing the missions of the ORM organization in particular the monitoring, reporting, surveillance, and control of CACIB’s Operational Risk within the local internal control scope for all activities.
 
Responsibilities:
 
1. Assists the ORMs who serve as CACIB Americas main focal point for issues related to Operational Risk Management/Permanent Control. Also, liaises regularly with local Operational Risk Representatives (ORR) and business line or support function contacts.
 
2. Plays key role in preparing annual Risk Mapping exercise including but not limited to identifying KEY Processes / associated Risks / mitigating Controls, working with business-line and support function to prepare map and collect information, and applying / maintaining the methodology and tools proposed by the HO ORM/PC Department.
 
3. Primarily responsible for collection, assembly, and preparation of Key Risk indicator (KRI) Dashboard. Duties also include review and analysis of results for the period and over time, challenging results especially in cases where negative trends are observed, working with business line and support functions to improve quality of indicators to reflect current risk environment and priorities, uploading results into HO Olimpia tool to capture “standard plan” control / KRI.
 
4. Reporting responsibilities also include preparation and maintenance of the Action Plan Tracking dashboard; a formalized follow up on remediation to address control gaps / failures associated with losses, “critical processes”, or Control Environment Reviews (Spot Checks).
 
5. Support Head Office’s Olimpia system for identifying, logging & controlling all operational losses & incidents:
 i. Inputs operating losses declared by the Business Lines and Support Functions on a quarterly basis in Olimpia as well as serious / major incidents
ii. Reconciles operating losses with the Financial Division
 
6. Participates in the preparation / organization of the quarterly Internal Control Committee and US Risk Committee and prepares documentation for distribution.
 
7. Collects information on a monthly basis from the local ORR regarding operational events, changes, and produces a monthly consolidated report (aka ePCC – electronic Permanent Control Committee)
 
8. Contributes to the head office ORM/PC organization by helping prepare required periodic reporting to HO and liaises with the relevant Business Lines and Support functions when necessary to support reporting.
 
9. Assists or leads on specific projects and assists in preparing reports to French and US regulators.
 
 
Requirements
-      Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, or quantitative-related discipline
-      Advanced Level Excel and understanding of Macros / Visual Basic is critical
-      Expertise in power point and other Microsoft office applications
-      Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
-      Strong people and organizational skills and team-player
-      Creative problem solving approach and natural curiosity for the financial services industry
-      Familiarity with and interest in operational risk concepts desired
-      Knowledge of banking operations, market, and credit risk a plus
-      French speaking a plus
