Research Assistant

I. Position Summary:

The Aging Brain Center at the Marcus Institute for Aging Research, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, is looking for a Research Assistant to join their dynamic research team. This position is an ideal learning opportunity in a cutting edge research environment for anyone who is interested in research and plans to attend graduate or medical school in the future. This position will work across projects including assessing patients in their home, abstracting medical charts, and proving academic support (for grants, manuscripts, reports, and talks). The position offers intensive training in neuropsychological and physical functioning assessments and chart reviews. The Aging Brain Center is dedicated to advancing medical knowledge about delirium and the interface between delirium and dementias, such as Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

 

II. Position Responsibilities:

·        Conduct in-person assessments in study participants’ homes ( or via video during Covid-19) using electronic data entry
·        Conduct research phone interviews with research study participants, family members, and other research volunteers
·        Abstract medical charts
·        Drop off and pick up of remote equipment as needed
·        Provide academic support for grants, manuscripts, reports, and talks
·        Conduct literature reviews
·        Complete administrative study related tasks
·        Complete special projects as assigned by the study leadership
·        The above covers the most significant responsibilities of the position. It does not, however, exclude other duties, which would be in conformity with the level of the position.
 
III. Qualifications
·        College degree (4 years)
·        Must have a driver’s license and own a car (mileage reimbursement per NIH guidelines provided)
·        Ability to drive to patient’s home in the greater Boston area
·        1 year previous research experience preferred
·        Experience in literature reviews, supporting of grants and manuscript submission preferred
·        Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills
·        Ability to work independently
·        Ability to manage multiple projects and handle unforeseen situations
·        Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times
·        Must enjoy and value working with older adults
·        Must be flexible and motivated to learn
·        Must have reliable Internet access. Computer literacy (Word, Excel) and ability to enter data in research databases (after training)
