Development Group Leader, Next Generation Sequencing

As part of the Applications and Product Development Department at New England Biolabs, the Next Generation Sequencing Group Leader will initiate, direct, and execute development and production strategies for the various NGS product families. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to lead a team of dedicated scientific professionals in achieving group goals in addition to working collaboratively with other departments within NEB.

Primary Responsibilities: 
  • Manage and support Product Development and Production teams and assume responsibility for transferring processes and products from development to production.
  • Effectively mentor team members to enable their ongoing growth and development.
  • Play a leading role in product and process development, effectively designing and executing strategies to enable timely product releases.
  • Constantly evaluate methods and procedures with the goal to deliver best-in-class product quality consistent with ISO 13485, 9001, and 14001 standards.
  • Stay current with competitors’ products and protocols.
  • Collaborate with internal Product Marketing Managers on product specifications, positioning, and data figures to support product launches and promotions. 
  • Work with members of a cross functional team to set strategy in the product area.
  • Engage internal and external collaborators to establish new product or business opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Experience: 
  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Genomics, or related field.
  • Proven development track record in the NGS industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and manage goals and timelines across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Shows a high degree of creativity and resourcefulness in finding solutions to bottlenecks.
  • Ability to act as a trusted subject matter expert in NGS technologies and workflows.
  • Engages effectively with customers across numerous market segments.
