CIB Credit Risk Analyst

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Leveraged North America Corporates Credit Risk group works with a client base of leading Diversified Industrial (Transportation, ALS, Logistics…), Consumer, Healthcare, Retail, Technology, Media, Communications, Power, Natural Resources and other corporate clients. The team is looking for an Analyst with strong analytical skills, knowledge of accounting and corporate finance and strong teamwork skills. New members joining the team develop the analytical skills needed to evaluate, assess and document client creditworthiness as well as structure and negotiate new leveraged transactions.

Job Responsibilities:
Analysts are assigned a portfolio of clients with primary responsibility for performing ongoing credit analysis and client exposure management. Specific duties include:
• Developing a well-informed and forward-looking view of the client business
• Staying current on all aspects of the assigned credit portfolio, including industry trends, portfolio performance, compliance with covenants, potential risks and opportunities
• Preparing and presenting credit approval memos in connection with new debt facilities for leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, acquisitions and general corporate purposes as well as reviews on existing client facilities, by:
- Conducting business analysis
- Performing financial analysis including running financial models and peer comparisons
- Assessing creditworthiness of clients and recommending appropriate credit ratings
- Assessing the ability of cash flows to repay debt
- Describing concisely the structure and terms of products and analyzing related risk metrics
• Participating in client on-site or telephonic diligence meetings
• Processing transactions and annual reviews in JPM’s credit system by coordinating with middle office and business partners in a timely manner
• Monitoring, investigating and escalating risk metrics associated with client activity
• Preparing and presenting periodic portfolio reviews to senior credit executives and business partners
• Leading ad hoc team projects

Qualifications:
• Highly motivated with a natural passion to learn and an inquisitive personality
• Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work well in a team environment
• Professional work experience in financial services preferred
• Credit risk management experience preferred
• Corporate finance and accounting coursework
• Strong sense of accountability and ownership of tasks
• Interest in client interaction with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Capable of understanding, describing and debating complex concepts
• Ability to perform well under pressure in a demanding environment managing multiple tasks at the same time
• Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint and Word software
