We have an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Coordinator to join our Editorial Department. Reporting to the Managing Editor, you will coordinate processes for Science Signaling and Science Immunology from a manuscript’s acceptance to final publication. You will coordinate information and files among the editors, authors, and readers/customers, while also serving as the point of contact for the research journals among other AAAS departments (for example, Operations, Public Programs, Visuals, and Proofreading). You will also be the primary liaison between the journals and vendors such as Straive and The Sheridan Press. The Editorial Coordinator vital to the weekly publication of both journals because this role shepherds all manuscripts through production and provides administrative support to editorial staff.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate the publication of scholarly articles, including scheduling, tracking, and reviewing content for adherence to style and format
  • Communicate among all team members for smooth operation of issue production
  • Maintain documentation of procedures
  • Interact with authors and vendors by email and phone
  • Provide additional administrative support for the team as needed

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in an office environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite (particularly Word and Excel), collaboration programs, and tracking programs
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to produce consistent quality while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and software
  • Familiarity with copyediting standards and guideline preferred
