Junior Auditor

Lilling & Company LLP is a boutique accounting firm focusing on auditing Employee Benefit Plans, Investment Entities, Broker-Dealers, Not-for-Profits, and commercial entities. Lilling conducts the most peer reviews (approximately 25%)in New York.
We are looking for a Staff Accountant to work directly with a manager and partner to work on several employee benefit plans, investment entities, broker-dealer, and commercial engagements and to interact with clients directly.
We are looking to train someone who is smart, has a strong accounting education and excellent computer (Excel, Word, etc.) skills. You will be involved in every stage of the audit, including planning, field work, writing financial statements, and documenting work. We are looking for someone who can take on increasing responsibility and wants to advance their career.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform auditing procedures on employee benefit plans, investment entities, broker-dealers, and commercial entities. Audit areas will include, but are not limited to, Planning, Fieldwork, Participant Testing, Investments, Cash, Receivables, Fixed Assets, Payables, Equity, Revenue, and Expenses.
- Work on multiple client engagements to provide timely client deliverables.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients built around a clear understanding of their business goals, specific needs and expectations.
- Handle routine client questions, and work with clients to obtain necessary information for audits.
- May perform other job related duties as needed including tax returns, reviews and compilations.
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
- 0-3 years of relevant audit experience at a public accounting firm.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a client focus
- Highly detail-orientated, organized and proactive
- Willing to travel to client locations
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
