Therapeutic Learning Community Coordinator - Dever Elementary

Dever Elementary School, a fully inclusive PK-6 school located in Boston’s Columbia Point neighborhood, is looking for a Therapeutic Learning Community Coordinator (TLC)l who is passionate about working collaboratively with Boston students, families and community partners to create powerful learning experiences for historically underserved students. 
 
The Therapeutic Learning Community Coordinator is a member of the building leadership team and closely works with the team and all staff to support Dever’s fully inclusive co-teaching model and to ensure inclusive opportunities for all students.
 
REPORTS TO: Principal
 
TERMS:  
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Working collaboratively with the principal and COSES (Coordinator of Special Education Support), identify effective strategies for supporting students enrolled in Dever’s therapeutic program for students with social emotional development support needs and other Dever students identified for targeted social emotional support.
  • Serve on the building leadership team and share expertise related to supporting Dever students with special needs and helping staff implement fully inclusive practices.
  • Develop strong IEPs and effective communication related to support delivery and ongoing monitoring. 
  • Collaborate in planning and service delivery with teachers, instructional coaches, student support staff, other building administrators, students and families.
  • Provide support services to individual students, small groups and class groups, as defined in IEPs or student support plans.
  • Provide case management and collaborate with district special education staff. 
  • Evaluate staff. Provide coaching and other professional development support.
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal, at their discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:
  1. Master’s Degree in special education, social work, or an appropriately related field
  2. Certification/credentialing and experience in trauma-informed practice and/or social emotional/behavior analysis.
  3. Experience teaching / working with students with disabilities
QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:
  1. Experience working in urban public schools.
  2. Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities license through DESE or experience overseeing a therapeutic program or setting
  3. Dever places a high value on the ability to speak another language. We are particularly interested in candidates who speak Spanish or another language spoken by Dever families (for example, Cape Verdean Creole, Haitian Creole, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Chinese, Somali)
Terms: BASAS, Group 10B, 211 days per year.
