Agency Space Planner - Job ID 56786

Job Summary
As the Agency Space Planner, you will provide project management and analysis for office, storage, laboratory, and workspace that meets the agency's short-term and long-range business needs. You will be responsible for the planning for office, laboratory, and storage spaces and approving the procurement of furniture and equipment that supports and enhances employees' work. You will also manage all requests for the assignment of workstations and offices in the St. Paul building due to new hires, transfers, or move/relocation requests. Furthermore, you will work with directors and managers in St. Paul and Regional Offices to fully understand their business needs, analyze options, make recommendations on how much and how best to use office and storage spaces, determine alternative solutions to meet work goals, and fully implement the agency's decisions on office space, furniture, and associated equipment. As the Agency Space Planner, you will also lead and administer the agency's implementation of the statewide enterprise facility database, Archibus.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications:
  • Two years advanced professional experience (e.g. Management Analyst 3, State Program Administrator Senior, or above) in space planning that includes managing major physical space moves, managing vendor contracts, and performing space utilization analysis.
  • Experience conducting studies of space utilization, developing standards, and performing project management.
  • Experience with the procurement of office furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills (customer service/human relations) and professional knowledge sufficient to exchange information and interact effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to use current version of AutoCAD with proficiency to general accurate floor plans.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with or knowledge of principles of sustainability as it relates to space management and office equipment use.
  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disability Act (ADA) and building codes.
  • Experience with Archibus data base software.
  • Experience developing architectural construction documents.

Additional Requirements
This position requires successful completion of the following:
  • Requires a Class D driver's license: a single unit vehicle with a gross vehicle weight of less than 26,000 pounds. This is a basic driver's license. Operators may also tow vehicles/trailers as long as the gross combination weight does not exceed 26,000 pounds.
