Overview

Under the general supervision of the Director Quality Assurance and Compliance, the Quality Assurance Lead will be responsible for: the Institute’s Quality Assurance program (QAU), the resolution of quality audits for all operating standards in pre-clinical research; assuring corrective action(s) are implemented for institute-wide improvements in quality/safety; and sponsoring any regulatory and commercial inspection and audits. Coordinates overall efforts of QA staff members, performs various audits and inspections, and assists in verifying the Institute's compliance with Good Laboratory Practices, study protocols, quality assurance policy and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and 6+ years directly-related auditing experience or equivalent combination of directly-related education and experience. Must have work experience in monitoring nonclinical Good Laboratory Practice research. Registration as a RQAP-GLP desired or expected to be obtained within a year of obtaining the position. Other quality certifications will be considered.
 
Technical knowledge of nonclinical laboratory research parameters (chemistry, biology, toxicology, statistics, validation) and ability to read and understand research protocols and standard operating procedures. Must have good computer and communication skills, be able to write reports and procedures, and be able to manipulate and analyze data. Ability to manage personnel, projects, and resources a must.
 
Ability to perform work with a high degree of independence, accuracy, attention to detail and good record keeping practices. Must be able to work harmoniously but assertively with a wide variety of individuals including Institute staff, sponsors and other visitors using good judgment and discretion in relaying and communicating information. Must be able to appropriately handle confidential information. Knowledge of differences between paper and electronic records and various methods of storing and archiving would be helpful.
 
Uses a personal computer, specialized computer applications, internet resources, e-mail, printer, and general office equipment.
 
A Post-offer pre-employment physical and background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) is required. A Valid Driver’s license, current vehicle registration and proof of car insurance are required to get on base.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications

GLP Pharmaceutical industry experience and training preferred.

 Salary is commensurate with experience.
