Job Purpose Under limited supervision of the Director of Website Development, works on the development of modern, intuitive, branded and accessible, customer-focused user experience across the College of Charleston website and other digital platforms that support the strategic recruitment and retention goals of the university. Ensures that the visual presentation and content of all websites reflect and enhance the overall College of Charleston brand, marketing messages and marketing goals of the College. Assists the Director of Website Development in providing creative and technical guidance and oversight for departments who are managing sites internally.

Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree and three years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience related to website design with consistent adherence to best practices and standards for items including SEO, accessibility, website performance and mobile responsiveness. Significant experience with, knowledge of, and demonstrated mastery of all phases of the creative process of web design, development and production. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud products, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Cascade CMS, WordPress, Google Analytics, and current best practices, trends and standards related to developing usable, accessible (WCAG 2.x ) and modern websites. Experience working with clients on projects from concept to completion. Candidates with an equivalent combination of experience and/or education are encouraged to apply.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated understanding of modern marketing concepts and digital marketing practices, and the ability to translate these into effective websites that provide customers with a clear and satisfying journey, regardless of their point of origin. Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines. Ability to discuss technical details and work with web developers/engineers regarding issues such as coding techniques. Ability to work well with others in a team environment and under deadline pressure. Must be able to work independently under limited supervision.

Employee must be able prioritize workflow and projects in order to ensure that deadlines set by University Marketing and colleagues from other departments and divisions are met in a timely manner.

Job Duties
Activity In collaboration with the Director of Website Development, shares expertise and best practices with, and assists marketing staffs within the Division and across campus, who are creating and implementing websites that have an impact on the College’s efforts to recruit and retain high-level, diverse students to the institution. Provides in-depth expertise in technologies across targeting, optimization and measurement capabilities, and insights and recommendations related to the creation and maintenance of modern, engaging, branded, accessible websites that make use of available and new tools related to the customer-acquisition process.

Activity In collaboration with members of the University Marketing teams, and representatives from IT, helps to develop plans to maximize the user experience through SEM, SEO, SERPs, landing-page and conversion optimization, mobile, social and remarketing techniques. Analyzes data and metrics in order to make adjustments that will help increase website traffic and customer engagement with the College. Measures and reports the performance of campaigns, and provides consultative guidance on the ROI of projects against allocated budgets.

Activity In collaboration with the Director of Website Development, and marketing and communications staffs across campus, manages website content. Monitors keyword trends in search engines in order to maximize SEO and increase traffic to the College’s various websites. Provides insights and recommendations on content strategies and messaging.

Activity Collaborates with marketing and communications staffs in various departments across the campus to ensure their sites create an effective and branded user journey that is optimized based on data and user insights, and that they are in compliance with overall College guidelines and regulations. Works with technical staff to specify functional requirements and assure that technical goals can be achieved in a timely manner.
