2023 Bain Capital Private Equity Analyst - Full Time

Bain Capital Private Equity Overview
Since 1984, Bain Capital Private Equity has created 19 global buyout funds and made over 370 investments. Our private equity activity primarily includes leveraged buyouts and growth capital invested across a wide variety of sectors. Bain Capital has found that a combination of a strong management team, sound fundamental business analysis and a focused strategy can substantially improve a company’s income as well as its long-term strategic value.
Bain Capital Private Equity seeks opportunities to invest in market leading companies poised for dynamic change and to back outstanding management teams to implement that change. We believe the most critical ingredients in a company’s success are the management team and the alignment of management incentives with those of the investors. Our portfolio companies have significant management-equity ownership as a key part of the investment strategy. Bain Capital professionals are significant investors in each transaction, which achieves an alignment of goals with portfolio company management teams.
The group has developed significant expertise in several business areas including technology, healthcare, retail, telecommunications, industrial and consumer products. Transaction types include leveraged acquisitions, expansion capital, growth buyouts, turnarounds, consolidation plays, private buyouts, public company recapitalizations, convertible preferred investments, and financial restructurings.

Private Equity Analyst Position Description
The Private Equity Analyst program is a three-year commitment (with potential for a 4th year) and it commences in July 2023 with an extensive, multi-week training program that is designed to introduce Bain Capital’s value-added investment approach. All analysts start their careers in the Boston office.
The breadth of industries, the multiple types of investments, and the overall deal volume provide a unique opportunity for Analysts to gain significant experience in a short period of time.
Bain Capital professionals are exposed to a broad set of situations and companies, and systematically develop skills as a value-added investor -- not just a financial engineer. Analysts will learn how to evaluate investment opportunities through the application of fundamental strategic analysis in addition to the more traditional financial modeling.
Analysts may also be exposed to a variety of portfolio company issues (e.g. potential add-on investments, liquidity options, improving core operations) and will gain unique operating experience.
Candidates should have an excellent academic track record and strong quantitative, leadership and communication skills. The Private Equity Analyst opportunity is available only to students who are currently in an undergraduate program.
Disclaimer: Bain Capital does not currently meet all the requirements to employ F-1 students seeking an extension of their optional practical training (OPT) under the STEM-designated degree program.
Effective November 1, 2021, all new U.S. hires must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (e.g. 14 days past their final dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and if eligible, have received their COVID-19 booster) or have received a religious or medical exemption from Bain Capital’s Human Resources team.
In order to be considered for this position, in addition to completing the application, we ask that you please complete an assessment with our partners at Predictive Index, so that we can learn a bit more about your ability to process complex information. Each morning, we will send out the link to the 12-minute Cognitive Assessment measuring a person’s capacity to learn, adapt and grasp new concepts to all new applicants. Please set aside a total of 15-20 undisturbed minutes to complete this once you receive the link.
