Public Relations Virtual Intern

Position: Public Relations Virtual Intern (unpaid)
Time and Commitment: 6 months - 12-15 hours per week.

The Marketing Internship Program is a 6 months internship that will introduce you to how our Marketing Department functions in a non-profit organization. Our goal for interns is to have the opportunity to build upon their academic foundation – specifically technical skills, industry knowledge and familiarity with a non-profit environment – while pursuing their career based on their interests and background.
 
Public Relations Intern’s focus is to create, plan, and implement thoughtful marketing initiatives to promote I'RAISE's efforts and impacts we have made in families's lives through our resources, programs and services. Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the program. The Interns will receive training, feedbacks, support and supervision from our Marketing Supervisor, Kristen Maikoo, who has worked professionally in the marketing field for 5+ years.
A Day in the Life of an Intern:
  • Learn and understand our non-profit agency's business model, structure, and offer and seek opportunities for press coverage of the organization’s programs and initiatives
  • Research and prepare reports on client business information, industry trends, media coverage, and competitive set
  • Prepare/Write press releases, media announcements, speeches and other PR copy
  • Research and draft press materials such as media lists, fact sheets, pitch notes, and message points, and coordinate, and distribute press materials, press kits, fact sheets, and mailings
  • Develop media relations strategies and Public Relations (PR) campaigns
  • Track media coverage and follow industry trends
  • Editing and updating our media kit and other promotional materials and publications
  • Work closely with the Upper Management and collaborate with internal teams (e.g. event committee, human resources, marketing, etc.) on public relations efforts
  • Conduct basic media outreach
  • Address inquiries from the media
  • Management across all relevant digital platforms (Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
  • Team meeting coordination including scheduling, agendas, materials preparation, note taking, etc
Qualifications:
  • Candidates are required to be pursuing an undergraduate or master degree from an accredited college or university. 
  • Common areas of study included but are not limited toPublic Relations, Communications, or a related field
Note: This is an unpaid internship. You are applying to intern at a non-profit organization.

Students may receive course credit for the internship. Students seeking this option should inquire with their academic advisor. Employers will work with the student and college advisor on achieving desired learning outcomes and completing all necessary paperwork
