We are currently seeking an Industrial Hygienist for our Health Sciences Practice in Oakland, CA. In this role you will work as part of a team to provide scientific support to senior consultants on diverse projects related to human health risks from environmental, occupational, and other exposures. You will be mentored by other consultants in the Practice and will have opportunities to collaborate with consultants in other science and engineering practices at Exponent.
You will be responsible for:
- Performing health risk assessments, industrial hygiene and indoor air quality evaluations and related environmental health studies
- Preparing and writing reports
- Analyzing scientific data
- Reviewing scientific literature and providing critical review of data
- Developing own professional experience, qualifications, and leadership
- Traveling (nationally) to client facilities (up to 40%) is normally expected
- Collaborating with other Health Sciences consultants to provide strategic advice to industrial and legal clients
- Enhancing and growing client relationships
You will have the following skills and qualifications:
- M.S./M.P.H. in Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology, Safety Engineering, Public Health, or Environmental Toxicology
- Currently holds or has interest in obtaining a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification in the next 2-3 years
- Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work or research experience; consulting experience preferred
- Training or experience in the collection of air, surface, or other environmental samples for chemical and biological agents and other contaminants in occupational, community, or residential spaces using standard methods employed by NIOSH, OSHA, and EPA
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Strong commitment to professional development, such as through participation in professional societies and presenting at scientific conferences
