2259 Audit Lead, Third Party Audits

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a federally funded, private, nonprofit grant-making organization that works to support freedom around the world, seeks an Audit Lead, Third Party Audits for the Compliance team’s regional portfolio. This position is based in Washington, D.C.

 


Position Summary:
The Audit Lead – Third Party Audits coordinates overall activities of the grantmaking program related to compliance with federal audit requirements as it pertains to NED’s grantees. Responsibilities include coordinating the process of identifying grantees requiring an audit, working with international grantees and third-party auditors to ensure audits are complete and compliant, reviewing audit results, and developing remediation plans when needed. Additionally, the Audit Lead procures third-party audits and special procedure reviews of grantees.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Identify the population of grantees that require or may require a Single or Program Specific Audit in accordance with GAGAS
  • Proactively work with grantees and auditors to ensure that audits meet requirements
  • Monitor the status of the audit
  • Work with grantees, auditors, and grantmaking colleagues to review audits, summarize results, and if necessary, develop remediation plans to resolve any identified issues
  • Procure audits and special procedure reviews of grantees when needed
  • Work with team members to coordinate the tracking, receipt, and review of non-Single or Program audits and incorporate results into the overall Compliance monitoring program
  • Develop and provide training to grantmaking colleagues on Federal Grant audit requirements
  • Conduct other internal audit procedures of grantees
  • Perform ad hoc special engagements or other duties as assigned
 
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • Public Accounting or internal audit highly desired
  • 4+ years of related professional experience
  • Working knowledge of OMB"s Uniform Guidance: 2 CFR Part 200 Administrative Requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Other Qualifications:
  • Appreciation of NED's mission. Related regional, functional, and language capabilities a plus
  • Familiarity with international activities relevant to NED's operating environment
  • Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally
  • Authorized to work in the United States

  • Auditing and report writing skills
  • Ability to develop rapport quickly and easily
  • Ability to preset audit findings with tact and sensitivity

  This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.
