Jr. Accounting Oversight Analyst

VanEck is a privately held global asset management firm founded in 1955. We develop forward-looking, intelligently designed, active and ETF strategies that strengthen long-term portfolios. The Fund Administration department consists of 12 staff members across two teams: Accounting Oversight and Regulatory Reporting. The majority of the team is based in Tampa with the remainder in New York. FundAdmin teams work closely with professionals throughout the entire firm including portfolio managers, traders, marketing, IT and PortOps. Accounting Oversight is responsible for the fund accounting for all US based mutual funds, insurance trusts and ETFs. They oversee valuation, reporting and treasury functions. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate interested in accounting to learn about the asset management industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned as needed:
  • Oversight and Valuation
  • Perform NAV Oversight and review pricing exceptions and corporate actions to ensure Fund NAVs are accurate
  • Monitory and report potential fund issues or violations
  • Custody/Accounting reconciliation review
  • Treasury
  • Monitor segregation and cash/borrowing accounts to ensure adequate coverage is maintained; report issues to management
  • Monitor Fund’s securities lending, restricted, and illiquid positions
  • Calculate Funds’ dividend distributions
  • Reporting
  • Prepare certain Pricing Committee and Board of Trustees reports, including quarterly compensation statements for the Trustees
  • Review monthly N-PORT filings to the SEC
  • Solvency Reporting
  • Prepare Fund expense payments and forecast profitability

Qualifications
  • Interest for investing and an understanding of financial markets
  • Knowledge about different asset classes (equity, fixed income) and investment products (mutual funds, ETFs)
  • Quantitative orientation; track record of data analysis
  • Exposure to financial systems and software packages
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel; experience using computer software, including Bloomberg

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor Degree in accounting is preferred but other business degrees will be considered
  • Recent graduate (2021-2022)
  • Internship in financial organization preferred
