Advocacy Communication Intern - Fall 2022

The Hunger Project (THP) is seeking a Advocacy & Thought Leadership Intern to work as part
of our Global Communications team. This internship is open to currently enrolled or
recently graduated university students.

Position Summary:
Are you passionate about being a global citizen? Would you like an internship with a global
organization working to end hunger and poverty? Are you a good writer and have a creative

The Hunger Project is seeking individuals with a passion for foreign policy and development
and an interest in supporting our thought leadership and advocacy work during Fall 2022.
This is a part-time, remote internship eligible for school credit. And though it is not a paying
internship, we are committed to assisting qualified candidates in finding funding
opportunities through fellowships and university programs. This is an opportunity for
passionate, creative and adaptable individuals who are eager to learn to actively support
many facets of global influence, thought leadership and communications. These individuals
will build relationships, grow their mindset and skills as they put into practice their formal
educational training.

Specific responsibilities include:
● Support THP’s conference and event participation, including at the United Nations, Women Deliver and our signature Fall Event;
● Develop creative content for our advocacy and thought leadership initiatives on social media channels
● Support the development of key messaging modules for use by our staff globally;
● Work with our teams to develop written thought leadership content to highlight our expertise and experience;
● Collaborate with our global staff to develop new ideas that highlight our thought leaders;
● Other administrative duties and projects as assigned by the Manager of External Affairs.

Preferred qualifications:
● Currently enrolled in an international relations, global development, communication, journalism, or other related degree program
● Some understanding and experience with the global development sector, including major stakeholders, the UN system, etc.
● Highly organized, detail-oriented and committed to accuracy.
● Collaborative and creative thinker who is willing to take risks
● Self-starter with strong leadership and social skills. Must be able to work independently and take ownership of your time, space and projects.
● Knowledge of standard business applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Gmail, Google Docs;
● Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong editing and proofreading skills.
● Self-starter with a desire to learn, grow and embrace or generate new innovative ideas.
● Commitment to THP’s values, including an understanding of and compatibility with our principles and philosophy.
● Multiple language skills or experience working/living across nations and cultures is a plus.
