Producer's Assistant Intern

Academy Award-nominated director/producer Matia Karrell’s production company, The Red Door Films, is seeking Producer's Assistant Interns for Fall 2022 & Spring 2023. In the Fall, interns will be under the training and supervision of the current assistant, who leaves in December; in the Spring, they will become independent self-starters at the position. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn the key aspect of documentary production and assist producers with their work during post-production of Coming Home: Fight For A Legacy, the first-ever feature-length documentary about the Women Airforce Service Pilots, unsung heroes of WWII. 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to organizing producers’ calendars, attending meetings and taking notes, taking initiative in developing the company’s internal systems of communication, researching potential funding opportunities and project sponsors, drafting newsletters and press releases, keeping track of the company’s cashflow, checks, donations records, etc. 

Qualifications:
  • Able to give 15+ hours a week
  • High level of organization and time management
  • Proficiency in Google Suite
  • Understanding of Independent Film studio
  • Positive, supportive, and professional
  • Self-motivated and independent
  • An administrative whiz with a knack for communications
  • Always up for learning and trying new things

This is an unpaid remote internship for school credit (if interested, we may consider you for the in-person opportunities in the LA area as well). Hours are flexible, but looking for a minimum commitment of 10 hours/week. The intern may be considered for a credit in the documentary.

The Red Door Films, a busy production company with projects in post-production and development, is seeking interns to assist the producer and director in editing. The Red Door Films is currently working on a documentary, Coming Home: Fight for a Legacy, about the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP), the often-forgotten women heroes of WWII.

This will give you a hands-on understanding of documentary filmmaking, editing, producing, and production management. Through this mentorship program, you will connect with women who want you to succeed and will guide you along the way. Seeking enthusiastic candidates with strong computer skills who are highly organized, self-starters, and curious about all facets of the film production process.
