Research Technician I/II

The Hockenbery Lab is the Clinical Research Division explores the rewiring cell metabolism, the step-by-step processes cells use to break down nutrients-is used to control cancer cell growth. A highly motivated, bright individual with a career path in biological sciences and/or medicine is sought for this position. 
 

Responsibilities


Primary Job Duties for Research Technician I/II:
  • Perform experiments at the bench level to support investigative work
  • Prepare and maintain laboratory reagents, stocks, cultures or cell lines
  • Perform and modify documented protocols and assays
  • Maintain laboratory records and compile data on experiments and assays
  • Interpret and report on experimental results
  • Perform statistical analysis of test results and prepare written reports on work performed
  • Operate and carry out basic maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Order and maintain appropriate levels of supplies
  • Management and experimental manipulation of mouse colonies
  • Experience in gene editing of mammalian cells using CRISPR/Cas9, lentivirus transduction, and sanger DNA sequencing
  • Maintain daily lab functions such as liquid nitrogen tanks, taking care of mammalian tissue culture, making solutions, and re-stocking reagents or supplies/materials


Qualifications


Research Technician I
  • BA/BS in a scientific field required
  • Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills
  • Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience is usually necessary

Research Technician II
  • Intermediate level position requiring 2 years previous experience working in a laboratory and BA/BS
  • Independent research experience outside of laboratory course work is usually necessary
  • Experience with mouse work
  • Available for some flexible hours as needed
