Strategic Management Fellow

Position: Strategic Management Fellow
Reports to: Director of Strategic Initiatives
Level: Individual Contributor
Department: Director’s Office
Classification: Non-exempt
Benefits: Medical, Dental, & Vision; paid personal, holiday, and sick time; $1500 stipend for professional development
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, with occasional weekend and/or evenings as needed, 35 hours per week
Fellowship Period: Nine month fellowship with proposed start date of September 6, 2022 with the possibility to extend or renew 
Compensation: $18.50/hour

Scope of the Position:
The Strategic Management Fellow supports the planning, evaluation, and implementation of special projects and strategic initiatives. The Fellow will report to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and will provide project management, business planning, communication, and analysis. The Fellow partners with senior staff and departments across the Museum on strategy development and annual planning. Some aspects of the work can be customized depending on the selected candidate’s expertise, interests, and experience. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the project assistant for strategic plan implementation.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and progress reporting of strategic plan initiatives. 
  • Attend cross-functional meetings and report on outcomes and action items. 
  • Assist with developing content and analyses for project deliverables and meetings. 
  • Prepare presentations and communications.
  • Review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established standards.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop strategies to meet goals using fact-based assessments of current state and resource requirements.
  • Identify potential solutions and novel approaches to support the development of new initiatives and/or to resolve identified issues.
  • Assist with quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods analyses that contribute to the development of strategic insights.
  • Create action-oriented insights and recommendations for leadership team.
  •  Support administrative functions of the Director’s Office as needed.

Education, Experience, and Certification:
  • Graduate student or recent recipient of a graduate degree with an interest in pursuing a professional career in a museum or non-profit organization. 
  • Advanced degrees in the areas of business administration, non-profit management, law, organizational behavior, information technology, software development, marketing, communications, public relations, fundraising, data analysis, accounting, finance, or similar field will receive preference.

  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving, with the ability to influence without direct authority, develop effective partnerships, and build consensus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with a demonstrated ability to prepare executive-level written and oral presentations.
