Lead Investigative Crime Analyst (Manager I)

About this position:
The Lead Investigative Crime Analyst will be responsible for providing oversight of the analysts and analysis that support the Detective Division with investigations and strategic crime reduction efforts. This position will supervise the compiling, maintenance, analysis, and integration of crime & other related data and information for the Detective Division. The position will oversee the investigative analytical workload and provide direct supervision to five investigative crime analysts.

As the Lead Investigative Crime Analyst, you will:
  • Establish and maintain investigative crime analysis standard operating procedures and develop standardized reporting formats including routine review and auditing of SOPs. This requires understanding of pertinent statutes, regulations, ordinances, and policies and best practice in investigative analysis techniques.
  • Establish and maintain effective & collaborative working relationships with investigators, Bureau leadership, and other internal & external stakeholders.
  • Manage and direct the development of the investigative crime analysis program including project coordination, prioritization, assignment, and review for quality and content.
  • Establish and maintain an effective investigative crime analysis team including hiring & training new investigative analysts, establishing performance requirements and personal development targets for staff, regularly monitor performance and provide coaching, and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Utilize investigative techniques and collect, evaluate, & interpret complex data in qualitative and quantitative forms including using law enforcement specific databases, call records, open-source information, GIS & mapping, link & network analysis, statistical analysis, and standard office & presentation software.
  • Present report, results, and recommendations including testifying in criminal or civil proceedings.
