Entry Level Test Analyst (Aerospace Engineer) - Arnold AFB, TN

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Test Analyst (GS-0861-07, target NH-03) to work at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) in the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), at the 804th Test Group, 718th Test Squadron, at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, Tennessee.

This position has a typical 2022 salary range of $44,740-$122,683 (includes locality).

This position is Situational Telework Eligible (must reside in the local area) for up to a maximum of 80% of the time. Telework options can be negotiated and implemented after entrance on duty.

In this position you will serve as an engineer trainee in the 718th Test Squadron. Duties are designed to progress the employee in the academic theories and principles and the development of analytical and evaluative skills and techniques for analysis and evaluation. You will use prescribed methods to perform specific and limited work assignments that are normally minor phases of a broader assignment of a higher-grade engineer serving as a high temperature material testing Test Analyst for the Arcs Section.

*Position will be developmental to Aerospace Engineer GS-0861-09 (CPD 8BR8579) and GS-0861-11 (CPD 8BR8580) with target to full performance Aerospace Engineer NH-0861-03 (SPRD H31MTS00119). All training must be completed and regulatory requirements met prior to promotion to the next grade level.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain appropriate security clearance
- A professional engineering degree at the Bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required
- This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position. Category- Test and Evaluation. Level 1- Foundational and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet or be capable of achieving the APDP certification designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months
- Knowledge of compressible flow, heat transfer, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station
- Knowledge of engineering concepts and principles and standard engineering practices, methods, and techniques to perform routine projects or minor phases of a larger and more complex project following specified instructions
- Familiarity with program/project management techniques and computer software systems
- Skill in preparing and interpreting charts, graphs, or tables; and ability to make calculations applying standard formulas and to record factual data in tests and studies
- Ability to respond positively and flexibly to significant changes in test schedule, focus, or direction
- A willingness to tackle new challenges and assignments as they arise
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information to team members, customers, and leadership
