JOB TITLE: Auto Service Paraprofessional/Shop Manager
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly
REPORTS TO: Classroom Instructor(s)

TERMS:
This position is a 191 day position with full family benefits, paid holidays, paid sick and personal time. State retirement system through the Office of Retirement Services, Pension Plus or Defined Contribution.
SALARY RANGE:
$19.202908 - $25.2865 (Step 1-9 per the CTC Paraprofessional Scale), dependent on experience and education.
GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:
Career Tech Center paraprofessionals work under the supervision of, and at the discretion of, classroom instructors to provide a range of assistive functions within the secondary learning environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
? Five years or more (minimum 4000 hours) recent related work experience.
? An ability to work comfortably and effectively with high school students in lab and/or classroom environments.
? Preferred candidates will have an Associate’s Degree or related training or college classes.
? Knowledge of careers and technology in the field.
? Possession of effective oral and written communication skills.
? Ability to qualify for Annual Vocational Authorization based on adequate work experience.
? No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities
? CTC Paraprofessionals must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective relationships with the instructor, students, parents, and other CTC team members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
? Assists the lead classroom instructor in the daily educational operations and
functions of the program.
? Sets up, supervises and assists students who are working in lab/shop environment.
? Works with the classroom instructor in the delivery of program curriculum and the
monitoring of students.
? Assists the instructors in the areas of record keeping, instructional preparation, lab
organization and upkeep.
? Works with special needs students on a one-to-one basis, as necessary.
? Assists in the supervision and documentation of student performance and
progress.
? Participates in professional development activities related to the job description.
? Assists in the maintenance, repair, and organization of classroom equipment and
materials.
? Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the classroom instructor.
NOTABLE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Certain paraprofessional positions require passing a MAISD-paid physical examination and/or back x-ray, before an unconditional offer of employment can be made.
TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work is performed in a classroom or laboratory environment. Some may be performed at a community work site. Work may be performed in any CTC classroom or lab and may also occur at various locations within the community.
EVALUATION:
CTC Paraprofessionals are evaluated according to current Board policy.
TRAVEL/OVERTIME EXPECTATIONS:
Overtime would be rare and only at the discretion of the MAISD. Some local travel may be expected.
PAY STRUCTURE:
This position is on Grade H of the MAISD salary scales.
