Research Associate, Structural Biology

About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated protein enthusiast with a passion for characterizing protein-ligand and protein-protein interactions through structural biology to join our team. This dynamic position will play a role in driving our portfolio forward by generating key decision-making data through structural biology. In this role, you will collaborate closely with and learn from biologists, medicinal chemists, and data scientists to enable drug discovery of tough programs.
Who are you
You are self-motivated protein biochemist and/or structural biologist, and a team player with a can-do attitude who thrives in a fast-paced drug discovery environment. You thrive on tackling challenging targets to enable them through protein purification and crystallization to support crystallography.

Requirements

What will you be doing?
  • Contribute to construct design to enable successful protein expression, purification and structure determination through either crystallography or cryo-Electron Microscopy.
  • Support protein expression and develop purification protocols as required and or work with CROs for troubleshooting methodologies and obtaining homogenous proteins to enable crystallization.
  • Establish protein crystallography for systems by enabling protein crystallization of challenging targets for small molecule soaks/co-crystallization to support drug discovery.
  • Maintain good records of protocols and methods used to establish protein purification and crystal systems and present study results to project teams.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate:

  • B.S. degree in structural biology, biophysics, biochemistry or protein chemistry.
  • Years of experience commiserate with level - 5 years preferred
  • Experience with protein biochemistry and protein purification is required.
  • Experience in crystallizing proteins and harvesting crystals for data collection is preferred, but not a requisite.
  • Experience collaborating/working with CROs is a plus.
  • Excellent organization and presentation skills that enhance team-based delivery of results.
  • Ability to work effectively and deliver results within timelines and to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
