Public Health Nutritionist III

Overview

The Vermont Department of Health has a dynamic opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced public health professional who wants to make a difference in the health of communities in the Northeast Kingdom. We are seeking a well-organized and energetic Nutritionist with great communication skills to complete our public health team in the Newport District Office. 

We seek an enthusiastic and dedicated public health professional to become our new Nutritionist III. You will oversee local implementation of the supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and supervise the WIC team. Most of your time will be spent supervising and supporting staff while also maintaining program administration and quality in accordance with federal and state guidelines. The Nutritionist III will also maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of community partners, our WIC Central Office team, healthcare partners, and Agency of Human Services staff. 

Major responsibilities include:
•   Provide overall administration, management, and quality assurance of nutrition services at the district office level Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the WIC team
•   Conduct nutrition and health status needs assessments and develop subsequent implementation and/or training plans
•   Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of community partners and stakeholders
•   Provide nutrition services to WIC families

This position also works with a public health team on emergency preparedness. Duties are performed under supervision of Public Health Services District Director.


Minimum Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education or dietetics.
Experience: Three (3) years of post-graduate community nutrition, nutrition or program administration experience including one (1) year or more at a supervisory level OR leading a group or team.
OR
Education: Bachelor's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education or dietetics.
Experience: Five (5) years or more of professional experience in public health nutrition or community health nutrition including one (1) year or more at a supervisory level OR leading a group or team.
