High School Math Teacher

Carney Sandoe, an education recruitment company, is helping one of our partner schools in Ladysmith, WI in its search for a Math Teacher, Grades 9-12.

Our partner school is a private boarding and day high school situated on a beautiful 96 acre campus. Students are highly engaged and seek the challenge of rigorous curricula while being committed to personal excellence, community involvement, and global awareness.

Uniquely, this school provides students the opportunity to graduate with both an Associate in Arts (AA) degree and and high school diploma. Students who successfully earn the AA degree are guaranteed admission into a University of Wisconsin four-year school, including the renowned UW-Madison campus.

This is an exciting opportunity for an educator to work with students from around the world who enjoy intellectual inquiry, creativity, and critical thinking and to help prepare tomorrow's leaders.

Outside of the scenic and rustic campus, the area offers cultural arts, music, and dance concerts; local fairs; and parades, as well as endless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and explore quaint towns.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience teaching algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus.
  • Strong communication and 21st century classroom technology skills.
  • Aptitude to successfully develop/maintain rapport with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.
  • Knowledge and mastery of best practices in instruction, classroom management, and assessment.
  • Passion to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and the knowledge necessary for lifelong learning.
  • Exceptional content knowledge as evidenced by degrees, promotions, publications, years of experience, etc.
  • Capability to offer Advanced Placement classes (not required).

Responsibilities:
  • Teach 5 courses (algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, calculus, plus an elective).
  • Serve as an advisor for 5-8 students throughout the academic year.
  • Remain accountable to and in communication with all school stakeholders.

Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in mathematics or a related field is required.
  • Work authorization in the United States is required. The school cannot sponsor a visa.

Co-curricular and Coaching Opportunities:
The school offers a variety of extra curricular activities to students each year. Instructors who sponsor/run these activities earn quarterly stipends on top of their base salary.

Other Details:
  • Depending on the candidate, this position could transform into a hybrid math/science position.
  • The school is also open to a candidate who is interested in serving as a resident assistant (in addition to math teacher) and receiving housing in the school's dorm.
