Senior Epidemiologist (PhD/SAS)

GDIT's work depends on hiring a Senior Epidemiologist to join our team in support of the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Division (AFHSD) activities at their Silver Spring, Maryland location. This position will allow you the opportunity to work with one of the largest health surveillance data sets, composed of millions of records related to multiple diseases and conditions, and a variety of clinical trials. You will also work alongside expert epidemiologists and analytical SMEs.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Providing consultative support on a wide variety of health surveillance questions on military-related populations to public health professionals, key military leaders, policy leaders, and researchers throughout the DoD.
  • Assisting in formulation of sound epidemiological studies (i.e., hypothesis generation, study concept and design, data retrieval from AFHSB and other DoD databases, analytic techniques, and reporting).
  • Using expertise in SAS to analyze personnel and health data for military-related epidemiological studies and review SAS code written by AFHSB analysts for accuracy.
  • Ensuring timely completion of analysis, summaries, and reports produced by E&A.
  • Ensuring data quality of reports and analyses are of highest quality and accuracy.
  • Preparation of ad hoc briefings, white papers, summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations on health surveillance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or public health (or related field)
  • 5+ years of related experience in health surveillance and/or applied epidemiology
  • Demonstrated experience in health data analyses using SAS
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office software
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, and able to obtain a Secret clearance
