Research Assistant I (Dept. of Dermatology)

The Department of Dermatology is looking for a Research Assistant who will support the Cutaneous Squamous Cell Cancer Registry, and related funded cohort studies. The RA works under the direction of the Registry’s PI, and is located at BWH Faulkner. May be responsible for the following activities: making independent judgment of suitability of potential participants for clinical trials, consenting patients, administering surveys to patients as part of clinical trials, developing and implementing patient recruitment strategies, recommending changes to protocols, chart review, coordination and completion of paperwork related to clinical trials etc.

Principal Duties:
  1. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the CSCC repository and its ongoing projects in accordance with the protocols, including:
  2. management of prospectively collected data and tissue samples and
  3. management of obtaining blocks and slides from existing tissue banks
  4. Working in concert with Principal Investigator(s) and other members of the Clinical Research team, develops and implements patient recruitment strategies.
  5. Initiates and maintains contact with study participants. Responsible for screening applicants, ensuring they meet appropriate criteria, and makes independent judgment as to the suitability of their participation.
  6. Develops, organizes, and/or maintains the study database. Responsible for data validation and quality control. Manages RedCap databases housing all information for the registry.
  7. Ensures adherence to all relevant good clinical practice and privacy regulations.
  8. Oversees regulatory aspects of the repository and cohort studies, including monitoring or coordinating a monitoring body, safety and protocol violation documentation as appropriate. Ensures audit-ready files are kept.
  9. Coordinates any requests for data and tissue from the repository with the tissue use committee.
  10. Coordinates all needed agreements with sponsors, whether contracts, data use agreements, material transfer agreements, or unfunded collaboration agreements.
  11. Submits invoices to sponsors in coordination with departmental grants administrator, reconciling discrepancies as necessary.
  12. All other duties are assigned.
 
Qualifications - External
BA or BS in Biology, Biochemistry or related field.
