The organization has evolved into one of the nation’s preeminent reentry and justice-informed service organizations, providing formerly-incarcerated people with the skills and wrap-around services needed to break the cycle of crime and incarceration and to build productive lives in their communities. Fortune has a highly specialized skill set to serve this population, with over 54 years of experience serving formerly incarcerated individuals in New York City and over 20 years of experience managing supportive housing. 
Title: Policy and Procedure Assistant
Unit: Evaluation and Quality Improvement
Reports to: Senior Director of EQI
Status: Part-Time (21hrs/wk) / Temporary / Non-Exempt
Location: Long Island City
Days/Hours: TBD
 
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Evaluation and Quality Improvement (EQI), the Policy & Procedure Assistant will support Fortune Society's programs by documenting and updating departments’ policy and procedure documentation.

Collaboration – The Policy & Procedure Assistant should be comfortable collaborating with staff at all levels (senior staff and peers), within both the EQI department and their assigned programs, in understanding a program’s policy and procedures.
Systems Thinking – The Policy & Procedure Assistant should possess an ability to think about programs systematically.
Detail Oriented – The Policy & Procedure Assistant needs to be detail oriented and possess the ability to document thorough policy and procedure documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work with managers of assigned programs to update or create policy and procedure documentation related to daily operations, including:
  1. Program processes;
  2. Documentation standards, including electronic records;
  3. Internal quality assurance procedures;
  4. Reporting requirements;
  5. Onboarding and supervision standards, and others.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree, preferably in public administration, public health, human services, criminal justice, social work, sociology or related field.
  • A minimum of two years relevant work experience, preferably in a nonprofit social service setting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills coupled with exceptional people skills.
  • Experience with quality assurance.
  • Appreciation of Fortune’s work in serving people who have been incarcerated and those who are at risk.
Travel Requirements– May require travel to our Harlem and Bronx offices for meetings and/or trainings.
