Recovery Support Navigator

Job Summary:
The Recovery Support Navigator (RSN) is responsible to provide care management and system navigation supports to members with a diagnosis of substance use disorder and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. The candidate will explore treatment recovery options with the member and complete administrative duties that are required of the RSN service.
 
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • The RSN will need to make sure all necessary criteria are met before placing a Member into the services provided.
 
  • The RSN will clarify goals and strategies, provide education and resources, and assist in accessing treatment and community supports with the Members.
 
  • The RSN must identify whether the Members have a comprehensive care plan in place and a current provider responsible for implementing the care plan.
 
  • The RSN is responsible to develop and implement a comprehensive care plan if the Member does not have any such relationships.
 
  • The RSN will need to use a “multiple pathways” philosophy of recovery to provide services to Members.
 
  • The RSN will provide information about, and facilitate access to, community and recovery supports, including supports for families.
 
  • The RSN is responsible to help navigate insurance issues the Members, including identifying and explaining in-network and out-of-network providers and advocating with providers and plans on the Member’s behalf.
 
  • The RSN will provide temporary transportation to Members for essential medical and behavioral health appointments while transitioning the Members to transportation resources in the community.
 
  • The RSN will provide services in any setting that is safe for both the Members and staff.
 
  • The RSN will meet with and foster relationships with referral sources, municipalities, institutions, funders, and the community at large to promote and grow GAAMHA’s Recovery Support Navigator service.
 
  • The RSN will be responsible for all related record keeping, billing, and reports.
 
  • The RSN will network and represent GAAMHA in the community and will conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values and professional standards of the agency.
 
  • The RSN will adhere to applicable laws, regulations and agency policies
governing the disclosure of client identifying data and confidentiality.
 
  • The RSN will attend all mandatory meetings and trainings.
 
  • Other tasks as may be deemed necessary.
 
Qualifications: Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field and have 2 or more years of experience in the Human Services field. Candidates must also have a Valid Driver’s License and acceptable CORI (criminal record assessment) upon hire and annually. The candidate must possess sufficient knowledge and understanding about treatment and recovery from substance use disorders, including but not limited to understanding of addiction services available for MassHealth Members and resources available in the geographic area where they will serve Members.
 
Supervision Given: None.
 
Supervision Received: The Recovery Support Navigator receives administrative supervision from the Director of Community Engagement and clinical supervision from the Clinical Supervisor.
