Water/Waste Engineering Consultant

ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Compliance/Wastewater Engineer, who is interested in participating on a variety of projects covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services, to join our consulting firm in Hartford, CT. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers on EHS compliance and sustainability/climate change projects.  This is an excellent career opportunity to work with an expert consulting team on challenging environmental projects for large industrial and global clients. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical assistance on environmental compliance, sustainability, site investigation and remediation, and due diligence transaction projects with a focus on industrial wastewater permitting, compliance and engineering.
  • Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, NPDES, and wastewater programs. 
  • Perform environmental compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support the development of compliance and management system programs.
  • Prepare Operation & Maintenance (O&M) Plans and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for wastewater collection, conveyance, and treatment systems.
  • Provide environmental compliance support to clients, including on-site assistance as needed.
  • Conduct environmental field work, including groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water and wastewater sampling.  Work may be conducted outside or within industrial facilities.
  • Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to effectively manage projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS in engineering (environmental, chemical, or civil), environmental engineering or closely related discipline.  Masters a plus. Or equivalency of 8+ years related experience.
  • 0 to 3 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
  • EIT certification a plus.
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.  Attention to detail and willingness to learn are critical to this position.
  • General knowledge of wastewater treatment systems and associated equipment and/or O&M is a plus.
  • Strong background or coursework in chemistry and math.
  • Working experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Local candidates preferred.
