Outreach & Engagement Intern

FPWA is an anti-poverty, policy, and advocacy nonprofit with a membership network of 170 human-services and faith-based organizations. FPWA has been a prominent force in New York City's social services system for more than 100 years, advocating for fair public policies, and working to meet the needs of New Yorkers. FPWA reaches nearly to 1.5 million New Yorkers each year.
FPWA’s work aims to address the historical, structural, and institutional inequities that continue to foster cycles of poverty and prevent low-income individuals and communities of color from moving up the economic ladder.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Outreach and Engagement intern will support the Outreach and Engagement Department with the day-to-day activities of the department, particularly around membership outreach and initiatives.

The Intern will work with staff to engage and cultivate relationships with membership, enter and track data, and assist with strategic initiatives that align our program and policy work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Provide accounting & record-keeping functions to support member services and engagement
  • Support planning and execution of meetings and trainings for members
  • Engage members around program and policy initiatives
  • Perform record keeping functions related to the needs of departmental initiatives
  • Provide support and assistance to other FPWA projects/units as directed
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
  • Manage various clerical duties
  • Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in public administration, social work, education, finance, communications, technology, or business administration undergraduate degree program
  • Must be a recipient of Pell, TAP or student loans
  • Must be able to work between 12 to 20 hours per week
  • Prior clerical or office experience, preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable speaking with various stakeholders
  • Detail oriented, organized and creative self-starter
  • Punctual, reliable, honest and of sound character
  • Collaborative and willing to learn


BENEFITS

COMPENSATION: $18.00 per hour

WORK ENVIRONMENT
As part of building a culture where employs can do their best work, FPWA currently employs a hybrid model. Employees are in-office twice per week and senior leadership is in-office three times per week. We observe a company-wide remote day on Fridays.

Work performed by this role is expected to happen in or near New York, NY given FPWA's work policies and practices.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

In accordance with NYC Mayoral Executive Orders and mandates, FPWA requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination or submission of weekly COVID PCR testing for employment.
