The City of San Diego is responsible for numerous programs and services some of which provide revenue to the city while others use this revenue to help develop the community. Looking to learn more about how the City helps fund the San Diego community. The Business and Finance Internships will give you the opportunity to learn how a vast organization like the City of San Diego manages its financial commitments and more.

Internship description:
Intern will work with Small Business Engagement team on efforts to connect with small businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profit organizations serving business to build capacity. Overall goal is to connect businesses to resources that allow them to expand or stay in their desired communities by ensuring that they have necessary tools and resources to participate in inclusive economic growth.
The Small Business Engagement team conducts business walks and is often the first connection point or liaison to City's assessment and Tourism Marketing districts.
Duties and responsibilities will include coordination of business walks, community outreach activities, creation of marketing materials, and assessment and/or creation of tools to assist small business owners.
1. Visit and engage with at least one new business association each month.
2. Identify at least 3 potential tools/strategies for business attraction, retention, or growth through best practice analysis.
3. Recommend at least one way that innovation can be utilized to improve customer service experience.
4. Collaborate with another EDD Division or business unit and recommend one process improvement that would impact revenue, business creation, or access to funding.
