Student Worker - Job ID 58806

Job Summary
This posting will be used to fill two positions.

These temporary student worker positions are anticipated to start approximately in September 2022 and approximately go through September 2023.

These position exists to assist Superfund Remediation staff with the following:

  • Assist staff in Remediation Division in organizing information and data obtained as part of projects being implemented under Remediation site work.
  • Assist Remediation Division staff with mapping sample locations and data points utilizing GIS tools/programs.
  • Assist Remediation Division staff in tracking results for residential well samples, vapor investigation sample and vapor mitigation systems
  • OnBase duties: assisting Remediation Division Project Managers in preparing project site files for scanning
  • Correcting and updating of spatial data for Remediation Division project activities/sites.
  • Verifying and entering spatial data in EQUIS for Remediation Division sites
  • Data collection and analysis, entry and reporting for Remediation Division sites.
  • Labeling of Remediation Division files and checking for confidential information in files.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education student working on an environmental degree.
  • (To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class)load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Oral and written communication skills sufficient to communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Accomplished in using computer programs (Microsoft office products, e-mail, intranet, internet, outlook)
  • Ability to follow directions and carry-out detailed processes.

Physical Requirements
Job involves frequent use of computer and scanner, as well as lifting file boxes of roughly 15 pounds.

Additional Requirements
Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
