The Information and Communication Technologies Internships will give you the chance to bring important information to the residents of San Diego as well as understand how technology is being employed to benefit the City.

Hours per week: up to 20 hours during school and up to 40 hours during vacation. Minimum 3 hours per week selected between 1-7pm Monday through Saturday. Example, one intern comes in 4-7pm several days while another works Saturdays 2-5pm.

Internship duration: one year
Internship description: Assist with SDFD Information Systems (Fire IT) at the Information Systems Analyst 2 level. Requires a minimum of 3 hours per week face-to-face in the office. Shifts are open from 1pm to 7pm Monday through Saturday. Our regular Fire IT Intern team meetings are on Tuesdays from 5pm to 6pm. Tasks may include mobile device management, website maintenance, Smartsheet databases, and other information technology support tasks. Each intern will be given at least one specific project that involves analytical thinking tasks at the ISA-2 level and the working title for the job is IS Analyst 2 Intern. Mentorship will be provided for City job applications, resumes, interviews, as well as educational goals and networking within the City to meet others who are in careers of interest. Goal 1 - Gain work experience at the City for a minimum of 3 hours per week in an office environment for up to 1 year.
Goal 2 - Complete at least one City job application online for a job of interest, along with appropriate resume, cover letter, and references.
Goal 3 - Calculate and quantify the value of work performed in your internship, and create a chart or graph to summarize this contribution on your own Fire IT Intern webpage.
Goal 4 - Create one or more image files to showcase the short-term project that you complete as an IS Analyst 2 Intern, and post that to your own Fire IT Intern webpage.
Goal 5 - Connect with at least one new mentor at the City who is doing a job that has interest for you.

Interns must be currently enrolled in an academic program. Please select school name in application.
