2023 Summer Analyst – Corporate Strategy Group

2023 Summer Analyst – Roles and Responsibilities  
Ares is currently searching for a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player to join as a Summer Analyst in our Corporate Strategy Group. The Corporate Strategy Group consists of investment professionals working directly with the firm’s Executive Chairman, CEO, President and business group heads to source, evaluate and execute upon the firm’s highest priority growth initiatives. Projects led by the Corporate Strategy Group have included management company acquisitions, portfolio purchases, minority investments / strategic partnerships, global expansion, public offerings, certain multi-strategy fund raising initiatives, new distribution channels expansion and new business development. The group strategically deploys Ares’ balance sheet capital, as well as third-party capital, in accretive opportunities that enhance our current capabilities and / or expand our product offering. The Summer Analyst will provide support for the sourcing, evaluation and execution of potential new strategic initiatives for Ares Management.

Key role responsibilities include:
  • Performing detailed financial and market analysis that forms the basis for decisions on investments of the firm
  • Preparing complex excel financial models
  • Screening new investment opportunities
  • Preparing investment committee memos and board presentations
  • Analyzing investment performance including maintaining and updating financial models as well as keeping track of relevant current market activities
  • Assisting in investment closings and integrations
  • Support strategic projects for new business development initiatives across the firm
  • Additional duties include providing direct support as deemed necessary by senior management

Qualifications
  • Impeccable integrity and trustworthiness. The Corporate Strategy Group is often required to work with sensitive information and a candidate must be willing and able to handle this information appropriately
  • Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work well with limited supervision
  • Private equity caliber drive and ability to work effectively in a collegial, fast moving, demanding, and dynamic environment
  • Creative problem solver
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Intermediate to Advanced MS Excel skills

Candidates for the 2023 Summer Analyst Program:
  • Are currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, ideally majoring in Finance or Economics
  • Have an anticipated graduation date between December 2023 and August 2024
  • Have a track record of academic excellence and participation in campus activities

Location: Los Angeles, New York or Charlotte
Duration: 10 weeks
Compensation: Paid Internship - base salary (subject to change) is expected to be a total of $110,000 (prorated).
