2023 Summer Analyst, Credit Portfolio Management (New York)

2023 Summer Analyst – Roles and Responsibilities  
Ares is seeking a Summer Intern for our Portfolio Management department, within the Direct Lending group. The position will expose the intern to the daily responsibilities of a Portfolio Management Associate, which includes:  
  • Utilizing the firm’s proprietary software tools to monitor and track the performance of select portfolio companies that Ares’ Direct Lending is invested in
  • Learning about and understanding the leveraged loan market
  • General portfolio management including quarterly valuation and reporting
  • Special analytics projects

The position also includes exposure to various functions within Ares’ Direct Lending, including: new deal origination, corporate debt underwriting, investor relations, accounting, finance, performance and restructuring.

Qualifications
We are looking for self-motivated, astute individuals with a passion for and interest in investments. In addition to strong analytical skills and comfort in a fast-paced team environment, successful candidates should have:
  • Beginning to intermediate MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of financial statements
  • Self-motivation and drive; ability to work effectively in a collegial, fast moving, demanding, and dynamic environment
  • Creative problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Impeccable integrity and trustworthiness

Candidates for the 2023 Summer Analyst Program:
  • Are currently enrolled as an undergraduate student, ideally majoring in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
  • Have an anticipated graduation date between December 2023 and August 2024
  • Have a track record of academic excellence and participation in campus activities
  • Have strong intellect with solid quantitative, financial and analytical skills

Location: New York, NY
Duration: 10 weeks
Compensation: Paid Internship - the total base salary (subject to change) is expected to be $110,000 (prorated)
Accommodations: Relocation stipend
