Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Environmental Service Office (ESO) is seeking a Transportation Planning Specialist 5 (In-Training) to serve as the Senior Policy Specialist for environmental justice and public health equity. The Environmental Services Office’s mission is to protect Washington’s environment and communities as part of operating and improving the state’s multimodal transportation system. This is a new position housed in the Environmental Service’s Office to provide policy advice, guidance, and technical support to WSDOT’s planners, environmental staff, and project teams as they implement state and federal requirements related to environmental justice and the reduction of public health disparities. The individual will work collaboratively with senior leaders and staff throughout the agency. WSDOT’s policy work in this area requires a commitment to advancing social equity and environmental justice in transportation system planning and decision-making.
Note: This is an in-training position that offers a career path and on-the-job training. This position allows you to progress through the Transportation Planning Specialist field and achieve the goal class of a Transportation Planning Specialist 5. Candidates will be considered as a Transportation Planning Specialist 4 or 5, depending on their qualifications.
