Must possess the ability to work independently, under general supervision, providing oversight of lab operations and technical assistance in carrying out various research projects. Responsible for maintaining laboratory space and performing technical laboratory duties as needed in accordance with general and/or specific plans/protocols. This job will require skills including the ability to perform in vivo mouse experiments according to established laboratory protocols, receiving and processing of clinical research samples, and maintaining accurate databases and protocols of experiments performed. While previous experience in these areas is preferred, training will be provided on the job as necessary for unfamiliar techniques. This job will also require the ability to calculate, transcribe, and analyze data using statistical techniques. Strong computer skills for analysis of large data sets would be beneficial.
  • Possess the ability to work independently to implement protocols designed to understand development of immune responses.
  • Use established models to initially acquire and then calculate, transcribe and analyze data using advanced statistical techniques.
  • In collaboration with PI or Research Manager, establishes new and modifies existing research techniques.
  • Assists in coordination of lab activities related to bio-safety compliance and mouse colony management.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Performs literature searches and helps to prepare presentations and written articles for publication.
  • All other duties as assigned.
 
 
BS in biological/physical science required.
Preferred to have at least one year experience in a directly related research setting.
 
Sound analytical and organizational skills
High degree of computer literacy.
Requires good oral and written communication skills
 Must be able to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities.
Ability to identify potential problems and trouble-shoot solutions.
Will assist with training and orienting of new staff. May serve as a team leader or supervisor in a smaller research setting.
