Technical Training Consultant (Technical Enablement Academy)

As a Technical Training Consultant, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with technical experts from across many divisions of the company to share new ideas, techniques, and approaches for developing and delivering training materials on a wide array of SAS software. You will work with leading edge software, tools, and resources to teach our customers how to solve their business problems.

To prepare you for an opportunity with SAS Technical Training Services, SAS invests in your curiosity by providing you a 14-week intensive technical training program. The Technical Enablement Academy provides training in core SAS technology areas and related technologies. You’ll receive the tools necessary to enable you to implement software to meet the complex computing and analytic needs of our customers. During the Technical Enablement Academy, key stakeholders provide guidance, coaching and expert feedback. You will also have an opportunity to achieve multiple professional SAS certifications. To enable your successful transition to technical training services, we will also provide best practices on customer interactions.
 
Academy start dates: February 2023 and July 2023
 
What you’ll do
  • Build and apply expertise in programming and analytical techniques, SAS technologies, and related third party software 
  • Deliver training to customers, partners, and/or at academic institutions. This training may be face-to-face (when COVID has improved), or delivered using a web-based classroom
  • Develop learning assets for e-learning, classroom training, and mentoring engagements
  • Collaborate with experts across many SAS divisions to develop and deliver custom training based on our customers business problems and specific technology needs
  • Directly assist customers who are using analytical enterprise-class, multi-tier software applications and solutions
 
What we're looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, Business Information Technology, or Management Information Systems or other related quantitative field
  • Academic or work experience with R, Python, SAS or programming in a third or fourth generation language
  • Academic or work experience with database concepts, preferably in technology areas as such as business application development, database management systems, Hadoop, data warehousing, data presentation and visualization, or web applications and services
  • Ability to travel to deliver training at SAS offices and on-site at customer locations
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with users with various technical backgrounds
  • Technical writing experience
  • Public speaking experience such as presenting papers or classroom teaching
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with hardware environments supported by SAS software
 
The nice to haves
  • Academic or work experience with domains such as Customer Intelligence, Risk, Fraud and Security Intelligence.
  • Project and/or internship experience demonstrating individual and teamwork abilities
  • Experience programming with the SAS language
  • Experience programming with Python and/or R
 
Additional Information
  • This is an entry-level position with 1-2 years of experience preferred
  • Location: Any major U.S. city. Prefer Cary, NC or Dallas, TX areas.
  • Travel Percentage:  up to 25% (when COVID has improved)
