AOT Manager III - Transportation Planning

Overview
The AOT Manager III is a senior role that manages the most complex and challenging planning studies and programs within the Agency of Transportation (VTrans). The incumbent supervises a staff of three full-time employees, advises executive leadership, and represents the Agency at public meetings and on various boards. In addition, this position manages complex and dynamic programs such as the Transportation Planning Initiative (VTrans' 30-yr partnership with the RPCs) and the Metropolitan Transportation Planning program. The AOT Manager also oversees complex and sometimes controversial planning studies as needed.
 
The combination of program, supervisory and project manager responsibilities requires flexibility and adaptability. The incumbent has significant freedom to act and overall responsibility for both project and program specific initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate Degree AND six (6) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; or (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning or a combination thereof.
OR
High school diploma or equivalent AND eight (8) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; or (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning or a combination thereof.
 
Note: Some positions may require registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
