POSITION TITLE: Phlebotomist (Lab Assistant)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Phlebotomist (Lab Assistant) performs duties typically expected of a Phlebotomist, including drawing blood from normal human volunteers and preparing specimens for the Normal Blood Donor Service (NBDS) department and monitoring vital signs. Performs clerical and/or administrative support duties for identifying, screening and scheduling donors, as well as coordinating payment to said donors.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Recruits, screens, and schedules potential blood donor participants.
  • Collects, records and monitors donor vital signs.
  • Collects and/or prepares blood specimens in a high-volume environment.
  • Performs standard laboratory procedures, including blood processing, blood typing and DNA extraction.
  • Performs administrative duties associated with lab records and processing payments.
  • Updates department website for NBDS.
  • Perform other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required or assigned. 
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Phlebotomy certification through San Diego County.
  • 5+years of experience in Phlebotomy.
ADDITIONAL INFORMTION: This position is per-diem 4-24 hours per month.
COMPENSTATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $20.07 to $25.06 per hour, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
