F220160 - Executive Director, Institute of Bridge Engineering - Civil, Structural & Environmental Engineering

Position Summary:
The Institute of Bridge Engineering (IBE) in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University at Buffalo seeks qualified applicants for a non-tenure track Lecturer position with an in house title of Executive Director, Institute of Bridge Engineering. This position will report to the Director of IBE. As appropriate, the candidate may be given an in house title in the Practice series such as an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor of Practice.
We seek an experienced bridge engineer and/or researcher to:
• Mentor graduate students in the bridge engineering track on career and coursework planning,
• oversee graduate student projects in the bridge engineering track,
• identify funding and research collaboration opportunities,
• assemble research teams to pursue research funding, assist with proposal development and budgeting,
• maintain relationships with transportation agencies, and with local, regional, state and federal legislators and officials,
• communicate the impacts of IBE to transportation agencies and the professional community,
• represent and introduce IBE at local, state, national and international events, conferences, and workshops,
• work with the IBE Director on annual budgeting and financial tracking.

Minimum Qualifications:
MS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university in the United States. More than 10 years of professional practice as a bridge engineer in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional registration as a civil engineer in State of New York or ability to do so within 12 months of appointment.
