Policy Analyst - Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty

The Office of Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty is seeking a Policy Analyst to join Team Hardesty!
The Policy Analyst works at the direction of the Commissioner and her Chief of Staff as part of a team helping advance progressive solutions on behalf of all Portlanders. The Policy Analyst is a dynamic position that serves as a liaison to bureaus and special projects, manages and monitors policy development, analyzes and provides policy recommendations through an equity and justice lens, and coordinates items coming to Council each week - among many additional responsibilities.
As a Policy Analyst, responsibilities include:
• Managing projects related to policy development, implementation, and oversight
• Staffing and briefing the Commissioner regarding weekly City Council meetings, work sessions, and policy updates
• Organizing and preparing items coming to council
• Gathering and presenting information to and from other Council offices and fellow policy advisors on upcoming Council items
• Attending weekly Council Briefings
• Serving as a bureau liaison (Commissioner Hardesty currently oversees Portland Fire & Rescue, Portland Bureau of Transportation, and Office of Community & Civic Life)
• Providing a financial analysis of City policy
• Researching, analyzing and providing policy recommendations to the Commissioner and team based on the principles of social, economic, environmental, and racial justice.
• Representing the Commissioner and Council Office at meetings, both public and internal
• Engaging a diverse array of stakeholders in developing and evaluating policy
• Assisting in the creation of talking points and general communications from the Commissioner’s Office
