Research Associate - Digital Value and Accounting

The Digital, Data, and Design (D^3) Institute at Harvard is looking for multiple energetic Research Associates (RAs) to drive research activities at our newly formed research labs. D^3 will have a formal launch in July 2022 with 10 newly minted labs that will provide cutting edge research faced by academics and practitioners. The RAs will work under the direct supervision of a Lab Manager at each lab. The RAs will also work closely with Harvard Business School faculty and D^3 core and platform staff. D^3 is looking for candidates with diverse backgrounds and/or new perspectives.

The Digital Value Lab, led by Professor Suraj Srinivasan, is seeking a Research Associate. The mission of the Digital Value Lab is to conduct research on performance and value creation outcomes from digital and big-data driven transformation in organizations. The ideal candidate would have experience conducting research, possess good writing skills, and have a keen interest in learning about and studying business applications of data analytics and digital technologies.

Duties:
  • Coordinate research tasks with the lab’s academic partners and faculty internally at Harvard and at other research institutions as well as with companies;
  • Search for and identify sites for future research;
  • Manage research information and data (including data cleaning);
  • Survey building and oversee survey distributions;
  • Collect research data and make deductions and conclusions to share with faculty and other researchers;
  • Write briefs and summaries of research projects for public circulation;
  • Conduct other background research and literature reviews;
  • Support writing of case studies and other articles, develop presentations.
  • Assist with development of practitioner and research convenings
  • Organize and contribute to lab communication activities (Twitter, LinkedIn, newsletter).
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
  • B.A. or B.S.; open to any field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Keen ability to understand and present complex findings to general audiences
  • Willingness to problem solve and open to learning new skills as required

Additional Qualifications and Skills
2 years’ experience in corporate, nonprofit, or university setting. Experience in consulting or research settings can be useful though not required.

Additional Information
This is a full-time term appointment starting July 1st through June 30, 2023, with the possibility of renewal based on funding and performance. All Research Associate roles at HBS are structured as term appointments. There is strong potential for reappointment, and a preference for candidates willing to commit for two or more years.

This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.
