Technical Training Specialist

The Technical Training Specialist works with operations leadership, supervisors and trainers to ensure timely, efficient and effective training occurs for all operations employees, with an initial focus on our Largo, Florida facility.

In this role, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving our current training systems, processes and resources for the purpose of consistently producing quality products and creating a great employee experience. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the training processes from Day 1 through the time that an employee is fully trained and productive. Through a data-driven approach, you’ll implement improvements leading to increased efficiency, quality, engagement, and retention. This is an exciting opportunity to optimize technical training to meet the rigorous quality system standards required of a medical device manufacturer while enhancing training effectiveness to accelerate employee competency, productivity and development.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organizes and facilitates new hire orientation program on “Day 1” to ensure an exceptional onboarding experience for new employees. Creates a consistent process, professional content and drives adoption across sites.
  • Conducts training needs assessment(s) and identifies potential improvements with a focus on reducing turnover and increasing retention among hourly employees. When considering changes or improvements, seeks input from multiple stakeholders, considers quality requirements and other interdependencies. Creates a roadmap of training projects that prioritizes improvement activities based on a data-driven approach, including rigorous evaluation of outcomes as measured by competence of trainees, timeliness of training completions, turnover rates and ability to support production staffing needs.  
  • Presents solutions and recommendations for the creation and update of training programs, improvement of the training environment, training effectiveness and employee experience.
  • Ensures compliance to training program and procedures, as well as GMP standards, ISO and FDA regulations by having thorough knowledge of these regulations and quality system requirements. Implements solutions to improve and streamline compliance training processes, approaches and systems. Participates in and responds to quality audits.
  • Actively partners with factory managers and leaders to ensure timely completion of training. Proactively elevates training issues to area management for resolution and serves as the focal point for training requests from the production areas.
  • Consults with subject matter experts on training content development. Works with subject matter experts to ensure appropriate training and development programs are created and implemented. Builds or updates training content in learning platform and new assignments.
  • Assists in maintenance and troubleshooting of the global learning management system, including record entry, updating and improving training plans and assignments, validation and updating of training materials.
  • Supports projects and process owners in the development and review of checklists and trainer guidelines for process/product/machine specific training in the production areas.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of process, industrial or quality engineering, industrial and organizational psychology, manufacturing/production environment strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and application of adult learning methods, use of surveys and other methods of data collection and training or program evaluation
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint are a plus
  • Strong presentation skills, including content creation
