System Administrator (Windows)

JOB DESCRIPTION *
At Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL), be part of a culture where diversity, teamwork, and collaboration reign. Join a company that is just as focused on its employees as it is on its customer. The Information Technology (IT) Department is looking for someone to join the IT Platforms team. The IT Platforms team directly supports the information technology needs of scientists, engineers, and technicians working in diverse laboratory, test, production, scientific, and industrial workspaces. The successful candidate will manage and secure an enterprise Windows 10 computing environment; be responsible for researching, evaluating, and planning the deployment of innovative technologies; develop optimized creative solutions to improve and enhance IT systems and operations through automation and creative problem solving. Join our team dedicated to delivering exceptional IT service supporting the world’s best Navy!

REQUIRED SKILLS *
Intermediate:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience; or
  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of one year relevant experience 
Advanced:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years relevant experience; or
  • Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of two years relevant experience

PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience managing and securing a Windows 10 enterprise environment
  • Experience or interest in administering, securing, optimizing and auditing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Active Directory (AD)
  • Experience or interest in hardening systems utilizing Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) or similar specifications
  • Experience or interest with security applications and hardening tools (i.e., Antivirus, Endpoint Security, Log and Event Management)
  • Experience or interest with Vulnerability Management (VM) and patching tools (i.e., VM scanning, patching and software management)
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and working with and communicating across groups, diverse teams, or physical locations in collaborative and teaming environments
  • Demonstrated desire to discover the root cause of complex problems and communicate them effectively
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills
