Institutional Giving Fall Internship

Mission: Sanctuary for Families is dedicated to the safety, healing and self-determination of victims of domestic violence and related forms of gender violence. Through comprehensive services for our clients and their children, and through outreach, education and advocacy, we strive to create a world in which freedom from gender violence is a basic human right.

Check with your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.

The 3 staff of the Institutional Giving team, part of Sanctuary’s 13-member Development & Communications Department, are seeking an intern for the Fall 2022 semester. The intern will assist the team with a range of projects aimed at growing and sustaining our funder base, which includes a wide range of foundations, corporations, and government funders comprising more than $10 million in annual funding. The intern will support the team in strategizing on how to make better use of our fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge) and implementing a plan to track ongoing donor cultivation efforts; documenting grant opportunities; researching foundation and corporate prospects; and drafting/editing sections of reports and proposals.

This can be an excellent opportunity for someone interested in a career in human services/social justice advocacy work, and a valuable resume experience for future non-profit employment, where background in fundraising is always considered an asset.

This internship will be approximately 10-15 hours a week with flexibility around the intern’s school schedule.

Candidate can be an undergraduate or graduate student. Preference for a student with an academic and/or personal interest in human rights, gender justice, immigrant rights, and/or other subject areas relevant to working with gender violence survivors.

Location: Remote or hybrid (Tuesdays in-office)

Please send a resume and cover letter to volunteer@sffny.org by October 7th.
