Senior Scientist, Oligonucleotide Chemistry

The role
The Multiplex Assays Development team is growing, and we are looking for a highly motivated and innovative Oligonucleotide Chemist who is passionate about collaborating with a team of scientists to develop and commercialize complex novel technologies for visualizing biology. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to independently design and execute on strategies to optimize oligonucleotide structures for use in multiplex biomolecule detection assays, including but not limited to multiplex immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, and in situ hybridization. This cross-functional, team-oriented position requires strong communication skills and the ability to interface with scientist and other stakeholders.

You'll have the opportunity to....
  • Develop novel oligonucleotide structures and strategies for use in multiplex biomolecule detection assays
  • Manage oligonucleotide projects, including but not limited to providing key technical knowledge, progress tracking, troubleshooting, and cross-functional team communication
  • Develop advanced knowledge of spatial biology and multispectral imaging of biomolecules
  • Provide significant input to business development vision and strategy in oligonucleotide technology and industry
  • Complete scientific and technical tasks on aggressive timelines, adapt to changing priorities, and manage complex and varied wet lab assignments
  • Follow established standard operating procedures, good laboratory practice, and maintain accurate and complete lab documentation
  • Contribute to strategic projects that support and promote the scientific culture and values of CST
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and champion new technologies and workflow solutions that will improve quality, efficiency, and/or scalability
  • Engage in personal and professional development activities to ensure currency of own approaches and techniques

Who you are and what you bring to the team....
  • A PhD degree in molecular biophysics, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, nanotechnology, or materials science 
  • Expertise working in DNA origami nanotechnology
  • Demonstrated success innovating and developing new or emerging chemistries related to nucleic acid synthesis, for example, the design and implementation for synthesis of modified nucleic acids, as evidence by peer-reviewed publications and/or patents
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical organic chemistry and biophysical chemistry as related to the novel synthesis of biopolymers.
  • Independent investigator with excellent experimental, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of tissue immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy, and multiplex immunohistochemistry.
  • Good communication skills for both written and verbal in English.
