Student Volunteer Internship

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Special Agent in Charge (SAC) Atlanta is soliciting highly motivated Criminal Justice students for the Spring 2023 semester non-paid Student Volunteer Program for in-person positions in Atlanta, GA and Mobile, AL.

Applications will be accepted from October 3, 2022-October 14, 2022. Participants will work alongside Special Agents and Intelligence Research Specialist on active ongoing investigations. 

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is a law enforcement organization. HSI is the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), responsible for enforcing the nation’s immigration and customs laws that ensure national security and public safety. HSI is responsible for investigating a range of issues that may threaten national security. HSI uses its legal authority to investigate issues such as immigration crime, human rights violations, and human smuggling; narcotics, weapons, and other types of smuggling; and financial crimes, cybercrime, and export enforcement issues. HSI special agents also conduct investigations aimed at protecting critical infrastructure industries that are vulnerable to sabotage, attack, or exploitation.

 

The DHS/HSI Volunteer Program is a dedicated hands-on experience designed to provide educationally related work assignments for students in a non-pay status. Based upon their background and experience, students are assigned to an investigative group such as financial, contraband smuggling, commercial fraud, counter-proliferation, human trafficking, identity and benefit fraud, public safety, and child exploitation.  

Enrolled as a full-time student in good standing with their respective academic institution

A US Citizen

Able to pass a comprehensive background investigation

Highly motivated and enthusiastic about pursuing a Federal Law Enforcement career

Able to participate a minimum of 16 hours a week for the entire semester.

Appointment is contingent upon passing a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history checks and drug screening, and a panel interview.
