Paralegal

Paralegal Position
KJP Partners LLP, a boutique law firm in Eastern Massachusetts, is seeking a full-time paralegal. We are looking for a two-year commitment at minimum. The firm specializes in the community development and affordable housing practice area. We assist public and institutional lenders, for profit and non-profit developers and investors in structuring, negotiating and closing complex debt and equity financing and real estate development transactions. The Firm operates primarily in a remote work environment; however, we are looking to hire a candidate who is based in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Draft legal documents related to loans, investments, acquisitions, dispositions, leases and regulatory matters under the supervision of attorneys
  • Prepare and file organizational documents and security instruments for clients
  • Assist in all loan, investment, acquisition and disposition activity, including coordination of due diligence with third parties to facilitate transaction closings
  • Communicate with clients and third parties regarding transaction and due diligence matters
  • Review title, survey, organizational documents, loan documents, insurance certificates and other project due diligence to ensure conformance with lender requirements
  • Provide support for attorneys, including performing office administrative tasks which may include scheduling meetings and calls, editing documents, creating files, scanning documents, and mailing documents
  • Participate in weekly project team conference calls on various active transactions
  • Organize documents for and attend closings
  • Notarize and/or witness documents for clients
  • Update firm website and assist with marketing efforts
 
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) software
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and able to accomplish multiple tasks within agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated; able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to requests as well as collaborate with others to utilize resources and knowledge of others in identifying high quality solutions
  • Strong ability to follow up on pending items, track project progress and stay current on project status and milestones
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
  • Knowledge of basic real estate principles and basic document drafting a plus
  • Experience in affordable housing financing a plus
